The Philippines is aiming high in its tourism development, planning to increase the number of foreign visitors from 3.5 million in 2011 to 3.9 million this year. It sets the goal of 10 million tourists for 2016.

The Philippine Department of Tourism announced that in order to speed up tourism development, the government would allocate 182.2 billion pesos (US$4.26 billion) to support the construction of tourism infrastructure.

The country also carefully designed a series of promotional activities called "More fun in the Philippines." It also planned to discuss with the other ASEAN countries to promote a shared model of tourism development, which includes its current cooperation under discussion with Singapore. The agreement would make Singapore a tourism portal for the Philippines, who would become an extension destination for international visitors in Singapore.
